La fuente es el último eslabón del arte de domesticar el agua y traerla a la ciudad, antes que esta llegara al grifo de las casas. Constituye un símbolo de urbanidad, como remate de un complejo sistema de regulación, captación y distribución. Lejos de reducirse a un elemento de mobiliario urbano, la fuente es arquitectura. Una arquitectura, recurrentemente fastuosa, que desarrolla un papel determinante en la configuración urbana y tiene la capacidad de construir un lugar caudal de encuentro y relación social. Shopping is an integral part of the street. Improving the vitality, comfort, and safety of the public space was done by fostering occupancy of closed shops and emphasizing relationships through the shop windows. That was the task developed on the street in the project, Good morning, Carme! (Olot, 2021). Three volcanic-stone terraces and rows of plane trees shape one of Olot’s best public spaces: the fountains of Sant Roc. It is a damp, shady and cool spot, accompanied by the river and murmuring of the water. It is a wonderful solution for the border between the urban fabric and the natural environment and, paradoxically, is an infrastructure designed for water catchment, bridges and railways. A two-storey house fit between two canopies. This is the answer to the common conflict between a desire – to enjoy the spatial attributes of a detached house – and planning – small plots with the minimal 3m separation to the property line. Los derribos se repiten en el centro histórico de Olot. Ante distintos motivos, las mismas consecuencias: solares abandonados, pérdida de urbanidad, desfiguración de la calle, destrucción del paisaje ordinario. La mitad de la casa de Can Sau, tangente al santuario del Tura, estaba afectada por alineación de vial. El solar restante, presidido por una medianera y cuatro contrafuertes escalonados, permanece vacío. Es edificable, pero no hay ninguna gestión a la vista. Continue reading unparelld’arquitectes .
