Located on the banks of the Scheldt River, simply separated by a dike, the DDS Verko waste reprocessing and recycling site condenses infrastructures necessary for the preservation of the environment – methanizer, incinerator, sorting center, photovoltaic field, etc. Among them, the bunker is an opaque object, ominous but central, which signals the site by its austere presence. The sports tower stands beside the Willebroek Canal in Brussels and completes the design of Maximilien great park. This totem tower hosts a gymnasium, a climbing gym, a multipurpose sports facility, a café, and outdoor paddle tennis courts. The project rises to the originality of the programme by superimposing the different activities and offering visitors who climb the tower an ascendant and contemplative experience. Love pt. II . Charleroi

Amidst the green hills surrounding the city of Charleroi lies the sports centre ‘La ferme du Château’. This complex, split in two by a meandering street, comprises two distinct poles. The first one – Love pt. I, an old dependency of a castle – houses the administration and overnight accommodation of the centre. A bit higher on the hill, on a plateau backed by the forest and dominating the street, we find the second pole, Love pt. II, which englobes all the sporting facilities. This complex includes three distinct activities: an elementary school, a high school and a sport center. It takes the shape of a pier, such as those you find along the English coastline in leisure resorts, as it goes straight facing the slope. This position means to reveal the geography of the site, in same manner as a bridge reveals a valley. The buildings, positioned next to each other, form together a long infrastructure stretched in the horizon, overhanging the parc. Continue reading Muoto . Label
