The valais canton and the visp vocational college had a sports centre constructed at one end of the existing college complex. The building is a single, compact structure consisting of the sports halls part, which is orthogonal, and the service part, which is lower and whose shape is adapted to the outline of the existing buildings. This barn, built in 1882 in the middle of the fields, was used for housing during the pasture season. in 1980, the addition of a floor and the roof transformation modified its appearance and its allocation significantly; the building became then a holiday home.

The village of Saxon, situated on the rhône plain, lacked a meeting-place for the various events and celebrations that punctuate the year. the municipal authority chose the centre of the village as the site for a car park, community hall and public open space alongside the church.
