This compact weekend house is being built on a slope in the rural surroundings of the River Scheldt. The shape of the bungalow follows the natural topography of the terrain. From the front door, a walkway leads through the house to the upper living spaces. Platforms line the route, which provides access points to the bedrooms and auxiliary areas. The Brussels-Capital Region and the Municipality of Anderlecht wish to usher in a new phase for the renovation of the Canal Zone, with specific attention for its mixed character and diversity.
This design assignment for a mixed project (two separate programs, a pursuit of shared use and a threefold interpretation as a place to live, work and play) on the site of Bergensesteenweg 409 contributes to this dynamism. The extension and alteration of a 4-storey townhouse for a family in Antwerp. The house is on a street of 19th century town houses near the Sint-Willibrorduskerk in Antwerp.
By removing the wall supporting the stairs a larger hallway is created allowing more daylight to enter the house. The kitchen has been moved from the back of the house to the centre and is visible from the hallway through internal glazing. At the rear of the house a new garden room is made with a draped timber roof creating a light and elegant domestic atmosphere. Continue reading Bovenbouw

The building of the kindergarten interweaves in the morphology of the street. The building tries to fit in with the existing row houses. The facade bends with the curvature of the street and connects to the adjacent building on both sides. Continue reading Bovenbouw
