Tales & Tellers is an exhibition that brings together the video content produced through Miu Miu’s collaboration with female filmmakers and artists over more than ten years. We designed an art museum to showcase the ceramic culture in Yixing, known as the “ceramic capital” and renowned for its production of pottery using purple clay. The site was once the center of Yixing’s ceramic culture, with its numerous pottery factories and ateliers. This project aligns with the masterplan to redevelop the area and envisions a cultural center for ceramics, incorporating ateliers and workshops while preserving the remnants of decommissioned factories. The construction of Trípolis Park, which renovates and transforms one of the last projects completed by the celebrated Dutch modernist architect Aldo van Eyck, is complete. On behalf of developer Flow, MVRDV restored two of the three listed heritage buildings in line with Van Eyck’s original designs and added a 12-storey “landscraper” along the edge of the site to shelter the complex (which includes Van Eyck’s Amsterdam Orphanage next door) from noise and dust generated by the adjacent A10 highway. The new building is careful in its relationship with the heritage buildings, keeping a respectful distance so that an exciting in-between space emerges where the two meet, with bridges crossing overhead to connect old and new. This multi-family building consisting of two homes, located on C/Vinya in the old town of Artá, was developed from a meticulous prior study of the existing structure, which was built in a traditional manner over 100 years ago and was in a state of ruin. The project for these two Official Protection Housing units focused on the REUSE of everything that could be salvaged, giving it a new life and avoiding significant alterations.
