In 2011 Barozzi/Veiga won the international competition for the masterplan of the new Art district in Lausanne, Switzerland – Platform 10 – and the design of the Fine Arts Museum.
Located in the city centre, the project proposed a master plan for the city´s three main museums: the Museum of Fine Arts MCB-A, the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts MUDAC and the Photography Museum Musée de l’Elysée.
The site of more than 2 hectares, near the central train station, was mostly occupied by an old 19th century train hall and some other industrial buildings. Continue reading 03 Barozzi Veiga

The house includes living space for the client, a guest apartment and a private gallery. A loose take on a classic room layout creates an interesting interplay of orthogonal rooms with polygon open spaces. The inner rooms are deliberately minimalist, serving as a backdrop for exhibiting works of art. The ground floor is made of textured concrete, while the upper floor features smooth running concrete interspersed by two panorama windows. Skolkovo is a private initiative backed by the Russian government for a new urban community 16 km west of Moscow. Christened after a nearby village, the new settlement will occupy an area of 4.8 km2. At present, the locality is covered mainly by fields, meadows and woodland, dotted with industrial and derelict sites from the Soviet era. It is traversed by motorways, including the main traffic artery to Minsk. Skolkovo is the extremely ambitious and duly publicized attempt to build a new district that – unlike the erstwhile Soviet satellite towns – offers inherent urban quality through a vibrant mix of uses. No less important is the aim of creating a globally reputed centre for innovative twenty-first century technology, embracing the research, production, administrative and even headquarter facilities of new companies, as well as schools, institutes and a university.
