The old town hall of Santa Coloma de Cervelló is a building located in the middle of the historic center that was its first seat of democracy, as well as a primary school, young association or Food Bank, among other uses throughout its history. The lack of maintenance caused its poor general condition which started the process of its rehabilitation as a municipal facility due to its special bond with the citizens of the municipality.

The transformation of the building was based on three different programs that had to be made compatible with each other, with independent accesses but which could interact between themselves at specific moments. Firstly, a multifunctional room on the ground floor was designed as a flexible room to other uses, as well as a room for presentations, exhibitions, etc., which has direct access from Pl.
Constitution A system of hinged and sliding doors allows it to be compartmentalized as well as darkened in its entirety for specific events. Then, an annex room that can serve as a complementary space to the presentation room or as an independent use. Finally, a young people’s association on the first floor, with a separate staircase, lift and a rear access via Carrer de l’Església.

In addition, the stability, accessibility and health conditions of the building have been improved. A new system of installations, as well as the formation of a new envelope with new natural insulations, seeking to turn it into a proximity facility again towards the citizens of Santa Coloma.
