On the south-eastern edge of the municipality of Baar, Inwil district, at the foot of the Zugerberg, various agricultural buildings and groups of farms are scattered around. The new replacement building is nestled in this pre-alpine agricultural area with small forests, streams and meadows, which is typical of central Switzerland.

The two-storey timber construction is orientated towards the regional farmhouse typology in terms of form, orientation and materials. This is characterised by a simple roof shape, side arbours, external staircases, solid plinths, façade ornamentation and the external references to the outbuildings, courtyard and garden.

All wall, ceiling and roof constructions are made of untreated solid wood elements. These completely dispense with technical measures such as adhesives, thermal insulation, sealing, etc.
The design of the building, in particular the external expression and the floor plans (see diagram) are strongly characterised by the chosen timber construction. This construction, prefabricated exclusively from raw spruce planks, can be seen as a contemporary development of traditional knitted construction, which was made possible thanks to technological progress.

Two simple flats and a music room on the top floor, which are stacked on top of the solid base floor, feature a simple finish made of natural materials such as spruce wood, lime plaster, poured stone flooring and regional natural stone.

The realised Haus Talacher project attempts to make an appropriate architectural contribution on various levels of contemporary building culture (spatial planning, living space, material resources, craftsmanship, building services, biodiversity).
