Many urbanite wondering about this would think that it is not too much to ask the new residential architectures to give us the possibility of living in the city while enjoying some of the advantages of the idealized rural environment, but without having to renounce the density and effervescence of the big cities that we like so much.
However, our everyday reality invariably shows us the opposite, and that’s why we decided to open up the design process for indeterminacy and participation.

What type of home do we deserve?
The RRURBAN project (Really RURAL and URBAN) emerges as a possible response to this increasingly widespread hope – and broadly addressed from different fields in the last decades – in order to inoculate the benefits of single-family housing in the speculative DNA of collective housing, activating moreover issues related to participatory design.
The RRURBAN project is a repeatable system of sustainable development that easily adapts to any urban plot, based on the evidence that a neighborhood community is nothing else than an accumulation of disparate and unique realities that, unfortunately, often disappear behind the unifying veil of residential architectures.
RRURBAN #01. MADRID / January 2017
The first RRURBAN operation will take place in the center of Madrid, occupying a small plot of 385m2 that is enough to house 7 urban plots, all of them with private outdoor space (patio or terrace) and basement parking space.
The common areas (25%) provide the community with a playground, a productive greenhouse, space for barbecues, storage room and bicycle parking.

El Efecto RRURBAN ¿Qué casa nos merecemos? Cualquier urbanita que se haga esta pregunta pensará que no es mucho pedir que las nuevas arquitecturas residenciales nos brinden la posibilidad de vivir en la ciudad disfrutando a la vez de algunas de las ventajas del idealizado medio rural, pero sin renunciar por ello a la densidad y efervescencia que tanto nos gusta de las grandes urbes. Sin embargo la realidad que nos rodea nos muestra invariablemente todo lo contrario. El proyecto RRURBAN (Realmente RURal y URBANo) surge como una posible respuesta a esta aspiración cada vez más extendida – y ampliamente abordada desde diferentes ámbitos en las últimas décadas – con el propósito de inocular las bondades de la vivienda aislada en el ADN especulativo de la vivienda colectiva en altura, activando de paso ciertas cuestiones vinculadas al diseño participativo. El proyecto RRURBAN es un sistema exportable de promoción sostenible que se adapta fácilmente a cualquier solar urbano entre medianeras, y se basa en la evidencia de que una comunidad de vecinos no es más que un apilamiento de realidades dispares y únicas, pero que desgraciadamente a menudo se encuentran ocultas tras el velo unificador de arquitecturas residenciales mal entendidas. RRURBAN # 01. MADRID / Enero 2017 La primera operación RRURBAN se plantea en el centro de Madrid, ocupando un pequeño solar de 385m2 entre medianeras que resulta suficiente para albergar 7 viviendas con ascensor de entre 92 y 150m2, todas ellas con espacio exterior privado (patio o terraza) y plaza de garaje en aparcamiento subterráneo. Las zonas comunes aportan a la comunidad un patio de juegos, un invernadero productivo, espacio para barbacoas, trastero y aparcamiento de bicicletas.
