Atelier PPW is located on a school campus in an urbanized area. The project is an exercise in the reduction of context into a simple and clear building. The brief called for one workshop space to accommodate building courses and one studio for painting courses. These volumes are held within a column system, that allows the two volumes to be stacked to create an open and flexible workspace on both the ground floor building atelier and the first-floor painting atelier.

The existing back buildings are replaced by panels of glass held within wooden frames that support a thin and light roof structure The grid on which these sliding and fixed windows are placed extends the logic of the existing house and the division of the internal set of rooms, by doing this the extension makes these rooms flexible through the operable sliding windows that can create different relations between rooms. Karamuk Kuo Architects . NWLND . ALTSTADT

The T4 project is a competition submission for a new faculty of architecture at the UGent campus in Gent. The project is located alongthe Muinkschelde River, which runs throughout the city. This location gives opportunity to create vibrant and visible public spaces within the university campus, allowing the creation of a new emblematic entrance to the campus while also enhancing the public presence of T4 and its access points. Refuge . BONHEIDEN

The Refuge is inserted in a landscaped garden of a single-family house deep in Flanders’ suburban landscape. After the existing house was rebuilt, the surrounding landscape was unkept resulting in a wild and untamed site. The house sits on a raised plinth, which elevates the ground floor from the wild context, giving a sense of monumentality to the existing villa in contrast to the surrounding green.
