The project is located in Calas de Guisando, Cebreros, Ávila. A high degree of protection is applied to the parcel due to the ecological value of the swamp and its surrounding vegetation. The house in red arises from a clear intention to respect the landscape, the natural topography, and the existing vegetation, proposing a non-invasive architecture. ICOMA is the acronym for Ilustre Colegio de Médicos de Álava, the medical professional association in the region of Alava in Spain, and this projects presents their new headquarters.
The new offices for icoma are implemented on an existing space in a residential building, connecting the street level space with the one on the second floor. The adaptive reuse of the existing space involved the aperture and definition of two small glass courtyards, new light sources for the ground level, that allowed for an open plan in visual continuity while helping to clarify transits and the definition of static versus dynamic areas. El Liceo Francés convoca el concurso con la idea ambiciosa de que el proyecto resuelva por un lado el programa docente de un nuevo jardín de infancia, pero también consiga, en última instancia, facilitar el funcionamiento general de la institución y la adaptación a cambios en la forma de enseñanza, así como actualizar la imagen arquitectónica del Liceo degradada por el tiempo y por diversas intervenciones, en su momento provisionales, que se convirtieron en permanentes.
