This residential building for elderly people is located in Les Grands Esserts new neighbourhood in Geneva, in continuity with an urban structure formed of large blocks. The project proposes a building defined by the intersection of two slightly staggered volumes with squared proportions, which intertwine to form a unitary whole and define a high density complex. Two inner courts of different sizes articulate the building.

There is in this project a willingness to reinvest in the traditional urban form of enclosing, which allows to create a large central public space, to increase visual clearances and to distance appartments far enough to preserve the intimacy of the residents.

The building comprises 129 units for single persons or couples which rest on a commercial podium. It deploys the apartments on the perimeter of a the big inner court, while aranging the rooms according to the race of sun, resulting in the orientation of the apartments indifferently on court or street.

The building encloses collective spaces on each floor, which offer to those unable to undertake more than a brief stroll all the qualities of a miniature city. These internal streets act as natural points of convergence for the residents on all floors. In this way, the personal treatment of these spaces by the occupants is not confined to the interiors of the dwellings, but extends to the public realm. Also, the proportion of these spaces and the planting details enable to keep a certain distance to the domestic spaces and filter the views, blurring the binding vis-à-vis.
