Nestled in a small valley among the vineyards, Texturised House by Bongiana Architetture originates as a measured expansion of a small rural pre-existence. A contemporary refuge designed to host family celebrations and intimate moments, where architecture builds atmospheres through light and matter.
The project is based on the principle of raw purity: rough surfaces, exposed materials, details reduced to the essential. Each wall and each floor thus becomes the result of a specific interpretation, transforming every surface into a visual and tactile narrative. The structure does not hide its body, but exhibits it with pride, in a play of textures that multiplies the perceptions of space.
The heart of the intervention is the double-height space of the barn, conceived as a large luminous cavity. Here, the project’s intention is clear: to bring in the maximum amount of natural light, which enters through calibrated cuts and refracts on the material surfaces, animating the environment with changing shadows. Within this volume, the light structure of a suspended bookcase stands out, creating a new intermediate space, airy and intimate, in dialogue with the spaciousness below.
The theme of fire runs through the house as a common thread between memory and contemporaneity: in the old part, the original fireplace remains, while in the barn, a cast iron stove becomes the new focal point. Around it, the walls are clad with terracotta tiles from the Split series designed by Bongiana Architetture for Terraformae, where the interpretation of the grout line becomes the sole decorative motif. A minimal gesture that builds a vibrant background, made of rhythm and matter.
The flooring in the new part also tells of this desire to rewrite tradition: a concrete surface that reinterprets Venetian terrazzo, but instead of the traditional marble fragments, it incorporates terracotta strips, recovered from the cuts of the hollow bricks used to clad the portico pillars. A gesture that binds the ground to the construction and intertwines memory and matter in a contemporary key.
The furnishings tell another layering of memory: carefully chosen reclaimed pieces, such as the 1950s kitchen dismantled from an old house and transformed to find new life in this context. The new and the old intertwine naturally, giving substance to a coherent and lived-in narrative.
In Texturised House, Bongiana Architetture confirms its poetics: an architecture of subtraction, which gives strength to the void and depth to matter, building a place that is at once a collective stage and a private refuge — a space where every surface speaks, every detail tells a story.·

Immersa in una valletta tra le vigne, Texturised House di Bongiana Architetture nasce come ampliamento misurato di una piccola preesistenza rurale. Un rifugio contemporaneo pensato per accogliere le feste e i momenti più intimi della famiglia, dove l’architettura costruisce atmosfere attraverso la luce e la materia. Il progetto si fonda sul principio della raw purity: superfici scabre, materiali lasciati a nudo, dettagli ridotti all’essenziale. Ogni parete e ogni pavimento diventa così esito di un’interpretazione specifica, trasformando ogni superficie in racconto visivo e tattile. La struttura non nasconde il proprio corpo, ma lo esibisce con fierezza, in un gioco di texture che moltiplica le percezioni dello spazio. Cuore dell’intervento è lo spazio a doppia altezza del barn, concepito come una grande cavità luminosa. Qui la volontà del progetto è chiara: portare dentro la massima quantità di luce naturale, che entra da tagli calibrati e si rifrange sulle superfici materiche, animando l’ambiente con ombre mutevoli. All’interno di questo volume svetta la struttura leggera di una libreria sospesa, che costruisce un nuovo spazio intermedio, aereo e raccolto, in dialogo con l’ampiezza sottostante. Il tema del fuoco attraversa la casa come filo conduttore tra memoria e contemporaneità: nella parte vecchia resta il camino originario, mentre nel barn una stufa in ghisa diventa il nuovo fulcro. Attorno, le pareti sono rivestite con le piastre in cotto della serie Split disegnata da Bongiana Architetture per Terraformae, in cui l’interpretazione della fuga diventa unico motivo decorativo. Un gesto minimale che costruisce un fondo vibrante, fatto di ritmo e materia. Anche il pavimento della parte nuova racconta questa volontà di riscrittura della tradizione: una superficie in cemento che reinterpreta il seminato alla veneziana, ma al posto dei tradizionali frammenti di marmo accoglie listelli in cotto, recuperati dai tagli dei forati usati per rivestire i pilastri del portico. Un gesto che lega il suolo alla costruzione, e intreccia memoria e materia in una chiave contemporanea. Gli arredi raccontano un’altra stratificazione di memoria: pezzi di recupero scelti con cura, come la cucina anni Cinquanta smontata da una vecchia casa e trasformata per trovare nuova vita in questo contesto. Il nuovo e l’antico si intrecciano con naturalezza, dando corpo a un racconto coerente e vissuto. In Texturised House, Bongiana Architetture conferma la propria poetica: un’architettura di sottrazione, che dà forza al vuoto e spessore alla materia, costruendo un luogo che è al tempo stesso scena collettiva e rifugio privato — uno spazio dove ogni superficie parla, ogni dettaglio racconta.
