The project undertaken by AS+ for the Dongguan Binhai Cultural District is an innovative technical, cultural, and environmental composite that orchestrates natural and industrial resources, combining them to produce comfortable natural and artificial spaces year-round through strategic forms, materials, orientations, and enclosures. These spaces are arranged above and below ground, making this district the most advanced and sustainable environmental experience, and highlighting the great creativity of local photovoltaic and glass industries.
Competition. In the first phase, the following teams were selected: Abalos+Sentkiewicz, Henning Larsen, Snöhetta, MVRDV, and Urbasus. In the final phase, the proposals led by Ábalos+Sentkiewicz and Henning Larsen were selected. The organizers of the competition, the regional authorities of Dongguan, allowed for a greater proximity to the sea and greater height than the 60 meters imposed in the first phase for this second stage. The final submissions were made approximately two months ago, and a final decision is still pending.·

El proyecto realizado por AS+ para Dongguan Binhai Cultural District es un composite técnico, cultural y medioambiental innovador, que orquesta los recursos naturales e industriales combinándolos para producir con formas, materiales, orientaciones y cerramientos estratégicos, espacios naturales y artificiales confortables a lo largo de todo el año, dispuestos sobre y bajo rasante, haciendo de este distrito la experiencia medioambiental más avanzada y sostenible, y dando protagonismo a la gran creatividad de las industrias locales fotovoltaicas y de vidrio. Concurso. En primera fase quedaron seleccionados los siguientes equipos: Abalos+Sentkiewicz, Henning Larsen, Snöhetta, MVRDV y Urbasus. En la fase final fueron seleccionadas las propuestas encabezadas por Ábalos+Sentkiewicz y por Henning Larsen. Los responsables convocantes del concurso, las autoridades regionales de Dongguan, para esta segunda fase permitieron mayor aproximación al mar y mayor altura que los 60 metros impuestos en la primera fase. Se hicieron las entregas definitivas hace dos meses aproximadamente, estando pendiente aún una decisión definitiva.
