The “Houses with Filter” is a project without artifice. Conceived from reason and measured experimentation, it lacks formal extremes and has not employed materials or trades that were not readily available. Our sole purpose has been to create a pleasant place for its residents through architecture, aiming to calm the current architectural discourse.
Located on the urban periphery of the city of Valladolid, the complex of 20 attached houses in the Pinar de Jalón neighborhood is conceived as the sum of two structures, two completely independent dualities in terms of conception, nature, and even materiality.
The main structure corresponds to the housing of the most domestic rooms, where the bedrooms are located on the first floor and the development of social life takes place on the ground floor. The carefully designed living room is presided over by a fireplace that reinforces the feeling of home, while its windows open onto a large private garden that mediates between the house and the water canal located behind them. The complex is built with exposed brickwork, fundamental to reinforce the concepts of solidity, refuge, and proximity.
The secondary structure, the filter, is attached to the main one as a complement. It allows several functions: through a simple steel structure, to dilate the available space on the ground and first floors; to filter light through various devices, tempering the temperature; to have an intermediate, undefined space between the street and the home for events, meetings, parking, or whatever life deems can be done in it.
The houses with filter form a duality: the heaviness and robustness of the home are joined by a light and more weightless element; the brickwork is contrasted with the slenderness of the steel structure; and the definition of a specific housing program is contrasted with another undefined, open program subject to the causality of the theater of life.·

Las «Viviendas con filtro», es un proyecto sin artificios. Concebidas desde la razón y la experimentación medida, no cuentan con extremismos formales ni han empleado materiales u oficios que no estuviesen próximos. Nuestro único propósito ha sido crear un lugar agradable para sus residentes a través de la arquitectura; pretendiendo serenar el actual discurso arquitectónico. Situadas en la periferia urbana de la ciudad de Valladolid, el conjunto de 20 viviendas adosadas ubicadas en el barrio de Pinar de Jalón, están concebidas como el sumatorio de dos estructuras, dos dualidades completamente independientes en cuanto a su concepción, naturaleza e incluso materialidad. 1.- La principal estructura, corresponde al alojo de las habitaciones más domésticas, donde los dormitorios se sitúan en la planta primera y el desarrollo de la vida social se realiza en planta baja. El cuidado salón, se ve presidido por una chimenea que refuerza el sentimiento de hogar, al tiempo que sus ventanas se abren a un amplio jardín particular que media entre la casa y el canal de agua que se encuentra tras ellas. El conjunto está ejecutado con fábricas de ladrillo caravista, fundamentales para reforzar los conceptos de solidez, refugio, proximidad. 2.- La secundaria, el filtro, se adosa a la principal como complemento. Permite varias funciones: mediante una sencilla estructura de acero, dilatar el espacio disponible en planta baja y primera; filtrar la luz mediante diversos dispositivos atemperando la temperatura; disponer de un espacio intermedio, indefinido, entre la calle y el hogar para eventos, reuniones, aparcamiento o lo que la vida entienda que se puede hacer en él. Las viviendas con filtro conforman una dualidad: a la pesadez y robustez del hogar se le une un elemento ligero y más ingrávido; a las fábricas de ladrillo se contrapone la esbeltez de la estructura de acero; y a la definición de un programa habitacional concreto, otro indefinido, abierto y sujeto a la causalidad del teatro de la vida.
