Architectural design for the adaptive reuse of a large scale building block into a mixed used neighborhood including housing, activities, retail and offices in the heart of the European district of Brussels. Won in International Competition.
By reintroducing a sloped landscape, we want to add qualitative green space and improve the water management for this new mixed use project with offices, housing and community facilities. By opening up and activating the ground floor, the green space in the interior of the building block will also be visible from the adjacent streets improving thus the public space. The project includes a passage with access to the Metro that will create a more vibrant and dynamic public space. Our project focuses on preserving the heritage by respectfully integrating Polak’s facades into the new development, merging historical significance with contemporary innovation.
