Situated along the gateway to Pie Town, an elemental structure and building form and scale reflects the surrounding environment with a dynamic interplay of reflection and transparency. For a holistic civic presence from street to residential tower, the continuous frame of the façade integrates the living, service, and commercial storefront zones. Deep vertical white ribs accentuate the slender and geometric proportions of the 32-story building, sculpting light and shadow, while blue-tinted glass and glazed ceramic panels amplify the hues of the Tennessee skies. Sustainable strategies for energy efficiency including natural ventilation, daylighting, sun-shading, and native plantings are woven into the planning throughout the building.
Along the street façades of the tower, the ribbed façade folds gently into a striking structural awning: a generous neighborhood porch sheltering public and retail spaces within. New gardens, along with the shade afforded by the large awnings, contribute to an enhanced public realm at the street, marking an important civic corner near the Tennessee State Capitol. Within this urban context the form echoes the elegant sloped roofs of churches, gabled sheds, and historic Nashville landmarks, such as 1902 Arcade in downtown Nashville.
