UMWELT . PRODUCTORA . LANDMRX
UMWELT + PRODUCTORA + LANDMRX are one of the finalists of the adaptive re-use of a former brewery in Limache, Chile (3rd prize). The proposal understands the landscape and the site itself as part of the museum experience and adds a machine-like structure to the back of the existing building plus a series of re-purposed machines to unlock the full potential of the historic brewery.
The main features are the spatial and constructive qualities of the existing building, with its steel structures, catalan vaults and its historical machinery. The interiors preserve the machines and vestiges of the brewing process with its material attributes, spatialities, textures, graphics and atmospheres.
The proposal considers criteria of authenticity and minimal intervention (as found). Machines are preserved in their original position as characters that accompany us throughout all our journey.
In addition, we propose the exhibition of a collection of objects, testimonial texts, archival photographs, and video interviews with former brewery workers and their stories. It is not only about the physical objects but also about the stories behind them and the traditions they represent
