David Chipperfield Architects’ and B720arquitectos’ proposal seeks to unify the identity of the art museum with its location on La Plaça dels Àngels, extending it into the square and creating a permeable campus that integrates the existing buildings, including a sixteenth-century convent. Respectful additions use structural timber and local stone façade to form new galleries, an internal courtyard around the historic apse and an inviting façade to the square.
