Casa Del Parque . Guadalajara

Tatiana Bilbao

The residence is located in Guadalajara, Jalisco in front of a park, which makes it a fundamental component for the design of the house, as well as the views and orientation of the spaces.

The land has approximately 532 m², and from the conceptualization of the project, it is decided to place the volume at the center of it to be able to naturally illuminate and ventilate all areas. The arrangement of the spaces was configured through the relationship with the outside, the orientation of the sun and nature, which is why it led to raise the house two meters above the street level and thus be able to generate a link with the Park and its trees.

A central wooden staircase is the element that articulates the four levels of the project, generating a gradient from the most public spaces to the most private. Starting from the main access to the house, framed from the outside by the geometry of the living room and dining room, it leads to a central hall that receives the nucleus of vertical circulation to mark the starting point of the route. The upper floor houses the rooms along with a patio that bathes natural light to high-rise interiors contained by large bookcases. The end point of the staircase crosses the bookcase to reach a rooftop terrace that serves as a space for contemplation and coexistence, with high walls that frames the sky and treetops.

The materiality of the house its translated in to the typical elements of the region, such as the red brick, wood and ceramics. The facade is covered by vertical lines of brick that generate movement through its surface, closely you can appreciate the methods of production of this material through wood ovens, that generate different shades of brown providing a warming view.

Finally, the project’s own vegetation constitutes one more element to Jalisco, mixing some species from this region along with some others from the rest of the republic distributed in a garden that embraces the project. In addition, it is decided to respect a pre-existing tree of fifteen meters high on the ground, which generates a natural contrast with the reddish tone of the house.
