Itziar combines a mountainous rural setting with an industrial estate associated with the motorway, built in a brutal violation of the topography of the place. In the form of a volume that brings together four dwellings for members of a family into a residential complex that shares the ground and some spaces, the house is a present-day interpretation of a life associated with the country and vegetable production without being either folkloric or indifferent to tradition. The position chosen for the new construction, as well as providing privacy, favours sun exposure, ventilation and views of the mountains and the sea, obeying criteria of climatic adaptation that are present in local tradition.
Its materiality and form address the contemporary industrial context that marks the two contrasting realities of Itziar. In a semi-basement and rooftop, the building also houses a brief for a workshop, studio and refuge for a family member. The double roof configuration offers a counterpoint in the section that varies its relation with the geographical setting as it rises: the garden, the vegetable production plot, the mountain and the sea succeed each other as landscape references for each dwelling.

En Itziar convive un medio rural montañoso con un polígono industrial ligado a la autopista, construido violentando brutalmente la orografía del lugar. A través de un volumen que organiza cuatro viviendas para los miembros de una misma familia en una unidad residencial que comparten diversos usos y espacios interpretando lo que pueda ser hoy una vida ligada al campo y la huerta, sin resultar folclórica ni indiferente a la tradición. La posición elegida para la nueva construcción, además de proteger la intimidad, favorece el soleamiento, la ventilación y las vistas sobre las montañas y el mar, siguiendo criterios de adaptación climática que están presentes en la tradición local. Su materialidad y su forma atienden a un contexto contemporáneo e industrial que relaciona las dos realidades confrontadas de Itziar. El conjunto acoge, además, en semisótano y cubierta un programa de taller, estudio y refugio para uno de los familiares dedicado al arte. Su configuración dual en cubierta sirve de contrapunto de sección que varía su relación con el medio geográfico según aumenta su altura: el jardín, la huerta, la montaña y el mar se suceden como referencias paisajísticas de cada vivienda.
