This ambitious regeneration project for a town centre site in Harrow comprises 940 new homes, a school, shops, workspaces and new public realm. Sergison Bates, Stephen Taylor architects and Allies and Morrison have developed a masterplan of compact streets and pedestrian lanes. This dense new quarter is given coherence by a palette of vivid orange-red brick buildings with pigmented concrete entrances, loggias and colonnades.

Sergison Bates are also designing two new buildings as part of the first phase: an eight-storey building fronting the high street with new homes above ground floor retail spaces; and a five-storey residential building elevated on a bel étage, a raised ground floor that provides a threshold between the street and the interior.

Both buildings share the same spatial arrangement and are served by a single, light filled core with a grand sweeping staircase. Bay-like projections along the garden facade allow long oblique views outwards and provide varied daylight to the interiors, while the street facade is more muted, with a flat front and inset loggias.
