Creation of a new Embassy for the Principality of Andorra in the European Quartier in Brussels.
_
The continuous approach of the Principality to the EU (lately with the creation of it’s own Euro coin) will sooner or later
end up with a new member to the Union. This project tends to approach how this small country in the Pyrenees could build up its own new Embassy in the middle of the European district in Brussels.
The main intention of the project is to create an inner private space together with a solid exterior image.
To do so, the building closes itself with a strong concrete facade, contrasted with an inner light steel structure to enhance the entrance of light to the main spaces.
This generates a private inner courtyard used to organize the official Ambassador’s receptions as well as a cohesion space for the entire Embassy.
The relation between different uses and users is solved with the stratification in 4 different levels (Public-semi public, private-receptions, offices-services and the Ambassadors apartment on top).
The difference of heights in the plot is used to generate 2 different entrances at different levels: a public entrance related to the city, and a private access on the upper part of the plot where the atmosphere is much more calm.
