Casa Evelia is an isolated vacation house surrounded by an “infinite” dry pine forest, close to the Atlantic Ocean. The idea was to make the house look naturally attached to the environment. This house in Oliveira do Douro is a truly “rivergazer”. From almost every room, bedroom, living room, terrace and pool you see the Douro river.
As a wedge, embedded in a peak, the river has become almost an obsession, present in almost every space. Over time, I hope it will not turn unsubstantial.
It was an old obsession to make a sloping roof. Although diffident, we were able to draw one in a single slope, that rises up to the water’s edge. Continue reading Souto de Moura
