Google’s first ground-up campus, designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group and Heatherwick Studios in collaboration with Google’s design and engineering teams, opened in Silicon Valley. The campus’ mission is to create a human-centric design for the future of Google’s workplace and set new global sustainability standards for construction and office design. The site aims to operate entirely on carbon-free energy by 2030; it integrates the most extensive geothermal pile system in North America and is net-water positive. Google announces it will cooperate with the large-scale development plan of Mountain View. Designs for massive 3.12 million square-foot ‘village’ campus in Mountain View has been revealed to complete with 8,000 homes, parks, cinemas and shops. The plans for Google’s new HQ in King’s Cross, London has been submitted to Camden Council today. Jointly designed by BIG & Heatherwick Studio, the 11-story building comprises of more than 1 million sqft, bringing together London Googlers and King’s Cross newest Knowledge Quarter community.
