The site is characterised by a soft northsouth slope geared towards the lake; the project transforms this apparent constraint into an opportunity to anchor the building in its territory with finesse. The Project “La Maison du Jardin” for the foundation Perceval is situated in a park with different buildings creating a campus. Most of them are characterised by an irregular geometry and anthroposophical architecture.
The building site for “the Maison du jardin” is located at the north-western Edge of the park with direct access from the street. The construction perimeter was set to keep the existing garden in the south and to densify the north-eastern corner.
The fragmented geometry of the project is the result of the different views and orientations for the diverse uses of the building. Unfolding to the south and defining a collective exterior space at the ground floor, while offering exceptional views to the lake Geneva from the rooms in the first floor, the large pitched roof is the result of the construction regulations from the village. The geometry helps to fix the building to the site and establish a dialogue with the surrounding.
The “Maison du Jardin” is designed for elderly people with physical and psychological disabilities. The Perceval foundation aims to offer its residents a place as close as possible to a real home where they can live in community, but at the same time having the required privacy.
