By opening the side wall of a semi-detached house, the interior changes drastically with a minimal effort. A narrow structure is built against this wall as an extension of the three existing rooms on the ground floor. A ruinously workshop forms the framework for a single family house. The existing construction consists of a double-high volume and an adjoining shed. Both structures are fully preserved and the new volume becomes part of the generous ensemble on the site. The roof of the shed is opened up, the spacious volume serves as an intimate walled garden. The adjacent volume is stripped of all inner walls and floors and a new wooden house is built on top of the existing slab. Continue reading RAAMWERK

The typology of the youth center is similar to a house. A house that is open to the neighborhood, but also offers intimacy for the users. A generous house, where spontaneous meetings and activities can take place. The youth center is built following the same principles as the surrounded houses are built, only bigger. RAAMWERK

The existing site of Rosas – P.A.R.T.S – ICTUS can be read as a conglomerate of various buildings, each established in a different era, each with different initial functions. The proposal will unravel the site with the aim to create a campus, a city within the city. A new ground level is introduced and works as an urban plateau that connects the site with the city but also interconnects the different buildings. A new underground logistic connection allows to remove some old structures which results in three independent buildings. Each with their clear function, identity and addresses. But above all this urban plateau results in unbuilt space, a generous space in between. Continue reading RAAMWERK
