The masterplan consists of four houses with a shared community space, for people with a mental disability, anchored in the small-scale fabric of Stene. The position of two clear structures results in a park that opens up to the neighborhood. The master plan offers a collection of atmospheres, a rich pallet of connected spaces resulting in a park for the residents and locals. The project includes a kindergarten and spaces for youth activities. The intervention is based on three basic principles: the oversize of the existing warehouse, the addition of a compact new building and the generous steel structure as a buffer towards the green playing area. The compact bungalow was already expanded at the end of the 60s, over time the extension and the original volume have become a whole. The new renovation and extension acts on this slow aging process, while the house is opened up even more to the overwhelming garden. Continue reading RAAMWERK

The Mgr. Stillemansstraat was developed in the 1920s and 1930s in art-deco style. The house was built as a single-family home with a small-scale textile factory for knitwear behind it. As a result of this dense program, almost the entire plot was built up. A first intervention was making outdoor space and light. Continue reading Raamwerk

An introvert plot is only connected to the neighborhood by two passages for entering and exiting the vehicles. This enclave in the dense urban fabric of Ghent forms the base for the reconversion of the existing structure into a family house with guest rooms. Continue reading Raamwerk
