The architects Lemoal Lemoal have breathed new life into a former municipal technical centre in Cossé-le-Vivien, in the Mayenne department, by transforming it into a space for the social and cultural life of its inhabitants. Special attention has been given to this small scale building, designed to house the changing facilities and lavatories of the tennis complex, in order to ensure it harmoniously blends in with its surroundings. This is achieved through a demonstration of the contemporary relevance of half-timbering, a traditional Norman structural principle. This type of construction presents the added benefit of a sustainable reliance on local companies, materials, and skills.
