It was about designing a welcoming space for the families of patients, a meeting point between family members, center professionals, and patients themselves. It had to be a friendly, familial space, very domestic in terms of dimensions, with emphasis on materials, colors, light, both natural and artificial, and above all, easily relate to the building and existing spaces. Windows, floating rooms into natural light while playfully embracing the friendly interior are the major theme throughout this therapeutic center. Clear lines, concrete floors, wooden roofs mixed with brick stone, and little details such as a table installed upside down under the ceiling itself, work as ironic yet playful and charming comment questioning even perspectives of the supposedly sane in the Therapeutic Center. The Tibidabo Welcome Square is the new introduction to the core elements and philosophy of the attraction park itself. Solidarity, sustainability and education at its core, the new square opens up towards a beautiful view over the city, inviting visitors of all generations to contemplate over the panoramic view of Barcelona.
