Travelling through the Euganean hills and the surrounding area is a continuous discovery of places history with filled, which have helped shape the identity of this unique cultural landscape over the centuries. Castles, abbeys, villas and monasteries dot the entire area, often occupying strategic points dominating its geography, and creating a fruitful dialogue with nature. The spatial and typological devices used by these types of architecture, capable of erasing the boundaries between indoor and outdoor, between private and collective, are particularly interesting. It is the case of the Benedictine Abbey of Santa Maria Assunta in Praglia or the Abbey of Santa Maria delle Carceri, which organized the active and contemplative life of the monks around a rhythmic sequence of four cloisters for the first abbey and two for the latter. The project proposal for the elements of urban furniture aims towards the valorisation of Sappada, re-elaborating certain foundational traits that determine its image in a contemporary key. The proposition entails a new setting made of small contemporary objects belonging to the same family and able to perfectly complement the atmosphere of the borough. The first decision involved the aesthetic unification of the various required interventions, as if they were notes belonging to a single musical score; in this manner the unitary character of the town is reinforced, imprinting a clear mark that becomes familiar and recognisable, avoiding an accumulation of figures with differing languages. Forte Cosenz is part of the cluster of fortifications present in the Venetian mainland once placed in defense of the Serenissima and which constitute a heritage of historical and naturalistic treasures. After the First World War, all the forts were transformed into weapons and ammunition depots and took on their current appearance, characterized by dense vegetation, especially internal, left to grow for mimetic purposes. Forte Cosenz is located on the bends of the Dese river snaking through the naturalistic area of the Bosco di Mestre. Within the intervention area we find 3 buildings: the main one, consisting of the imposing volume of the fort, and 2 smaller accessories located near the entrance to the area called Building “A” and ” B “. The project proposal for the Epicnter is the result of careful reflection on the meaning and symbolic role of the border between two countries, two peoples and two neighboring cultures. The intervention area offers the opportunity to develop this concept by proposing more than a building, a new iconic public space for both cities, capable of becoming the place of encounter, dialogue and proximity between Slovenia and Italy.
