Within a rectangular perimeter, defined by the precise alignments to Potsdamer Strasse, Matthäikirchplatz, Scharounplatz and Sigismundstrasse, three main elements define the visible volume of the proposal. A big prismatic volume where the highest exhibition rooms are located, another smaller volume which contains the main hall, shop, conference room and educational area and an open arcaded courtyard that enlaces the existing centenarian tree. The space between the two square prisms offers an open and public connection between Potsdamer Strasse and Matthäikirchplatz. A separate element in the northern area houses the restaurant area, completes the ensemble towards the Museum of Decorative Arts and provides a covered passage from Scharounplatz to the atrium with the centenarian tree.
