The small community Handenberg – situated on a hill – has a huge church with a surrounding cemetery. The local authority is situated opposite the entrance of the church. The village square between church and local authority has been lined with a parsonage and an office building. After the demolition of these two buildings the square had to be redesigned. Competition won by a team led by trans architectuur | stedenbouw and V+ for a new cultural center in Deinze, Belgium. The center, with a theater and music hall, will be built on the edge of the Kaandelpark. There are 450 seats in the auditorium. In addition there is a multifunctional room in the center.
