Created in the 1970s, Peterbos was a social neighbourhood envied for its overall quality of life. But the buildings and public spaces have not aged well, investment has not followed, and the image of the neighbourhood has totally changed. I propose to build a new accommodation building, one that can temporarily house, in turn, each inhabitant, thus allowing for the complete renovation of all existing buildings. Residents will live in the building for a short period while all work on their own home is completed.
A system of undefined rooms allows the size of the flats to be changed after each change of occupant. The flexibility allows inhabitants to appropriate the spaces as they wish. They can choose, by placing the kitchens and choosing the functions of each room, how they want to live for that period, whether it be a community or alone. The construction has been designed through addition, with layers that can be easily changed over time.
