Cobe’s Ultra-Fast Charging Stations redefine the electric vehicle charging experience by combining cutting-edge technology with a welcoming, human-centered design. Commissioned by Clever, Denmark’s leading EV charging network, each station features a modular glued-laminated timber (glulam) canopy shaped like an abstract tree. This wooden “umbrella” provides shelter and orientation, turning a functional stop into a pleasant pause on the journey.
Drawing on Scandinavian craftsmanship and sustainable forestry, the stations use responsibly sourced wood and simple steel connections, ensuring low embodied carbon and quick on-site assembly. Beneath the sculptural canopy, high-power chargers deliver up to 150 kW, allowing drivers to recharge their batteries in 15–20 minutes while enjoying a naturally lit pavilion.
Designed for scalability, the system can be deployed along highways and in urban centers to form a cohesive national network. By reimagining EV infrastructure as an opportunity for architectural expression and environmental care, Cobe shows how sustainable mobility and inspiring public spaces can go hand in hand.
