Halfway between the Puig de Randa and the town of Montuiri, Cas Sestadors was born in the shade of two agricultural sheds that have been there for thirty years.
Like a soft body, the house conquers the space under roofs, flowing between the Cartesian sea of concrete pillars. The house absorbs them in its center and setting them back on the perimeter, it generates eaves, terraces and porches; it enhances its constructive beauty and preserves the insulating continuity of the new ventilated sandstone skin. A new coating for this way of living among sheep, all “made in Mallorca”.
The terrace to the South extends beyond its porch to find a pool that, dressed as a garden pond, assimilates the ethnological rhythms of the qanawat of Son Trobat, the hydraulic system that feeds the agricultural development and dates back to the Middle Ages.
A bridge between these two cabins gives rise to the cloister, the entry patio to the house. An entrance that is also a kitchen; it is the machine that makes living a habit … three times a day … a vital tuning fork that gathers, connects, nourishes and occasionally fulfills.
Each deck houses its own living room, introspective to North (reading and small stove) and extroverted to South (table talk and chitchat). And finally, located at the poles furthest from the entry, are the bedrooms; for friends, children and the master bedroom, all absorbed by the deep views of the surrounding landscape framed by the carob tree forest that surrounds Cas Sestadors.

A medio camino entre el Puig de Randa y el pueblo de Montuiri nace Cas Sestadors a la sombra que proyectan desde hace 30 años dos cubiertas agrícolas. Como un cuerpo blando la casa conquista el espacio bajo cubiertas discurriendo entre el mar cartesiano de pilares de hormigón. Absorbiéndolos en su centro y retranqueándolos en el perímetro genera aleros, terrazas y porches, pone en valor su belleza constructiva y preserva la continuidad aislante de la nueva piel de marés ventilada. Un nuevo abrigo para esta forma de habitar entre ovejas, todo “made in Mallorca”. La terraza a Sur se prolonga más allá de su porche para encontrarse con una piscina que, vestida de alberca, asimila los ritmos etnológicos del qanawat de Son Trobat, el sistema hidráulico que alimenta toda la explotación agrícola y que data del medievo. Un puente entre estas las dos cabañas da lugar al claustro, el patio de acceso a la vivienda. Un acceso que es también cocina, la máquina que hace del vivir un hábito… tres veces al día… un diapasón vital que reúne, conecta, nutre y de vez en cuando realiza. Cada cubierta alberga su propio salón, introspectivo a Norte (lectura y estufita) y extrovertido a Sur (sobremesa y palique). Y finalmente en los polos más alejados del acceso se aposentan los dormitorios, para amigos, hijos y el propio, todos ensimismados por las profundas vistas del paisaje circundante enmarcado por el bosque de algarrobos que envuelve Cas Sestadors.
