The new Inca market and parking lot (2010), designed by C. Muro and Ch. Lay, defines a skillful volumetric adaptation to the different built scales of the surrounding area. Beyond the built volume of the market, the proposal extended the roof and concrete wall to detach from the traffic on c/Born and incorporate the parking ramp.
Previous State
In 2019, the Town Hall of Inca proposed the progressive pacification of c/Born, the integration of the perimeter facades into the square, and enhancing the connection with the Call. As a result, the demolition of necessary elements and the redefinition of the square were proposed.
Demolition
With the intention of maximizing the relationship between the square and the perimeter facades, the demolition of the necessary elements (extension of the wall and roof up to the parking ramp) was carried out, preserving those essential for the functioning of the supermarket and parking lot located in the underground levels. These are:
1. Natural ventilation for parking
2. Entrance/exit for parking
3. Mechanical ventilation for the supermarket
4. Emergency exit from the basement floors
5. Transformer station
Proposal
The pre-existing elements with regular geometries are unified with the aim of maximizing the green surface area over the parking lot, giving visibility to the perimeter facades and the market, and ending the volume with a new pergola that is coherent with the logic of the market. The elements are unified as follows:
1. Bench-planter for natural ventilation of the parking
2. Bench-planter for entrance/exit of the parking
3. Cylinders for mechanical ventilation of the supermarket
4. Staircase for emergency exit from the basement floors
5. Transformer station
6. Pergola at the market entrance. Perforated sheet metal
Activities
The new Plaza del Mercat is proposed as a hub of activity that meets the needs of the Market (Dijous Bo, extension of the market with outdoor stalls, etc.) and also serves the entire city. The square becomes a key point for the revitalization of the Call in Inca and aims to improve pedestrian access to the entire old town, providing new visibility to the perimeter facades and the market itself.

Estado previo El nuevo mercat d’Inca y aparcamiento (2010), obra de C.Muro y Ch.Lay, define una hábil adaptación volumétrica a las distintas escalas edificadas del entorno. Más allá del volumen edificado del mercado, la propuesta extendía la cubierta y muro de hormigón para desvincularse del tráfico de c/Born e incorporar la rampa del aparcamiento. En 2019, el Ayuntamiento de Inca propone la pacificación progresiva de c/Born, la incorporación de las fachadas perimetrales al conjunto de la plaza y potenciar la conexión con el Call, por lo que se propone el derribo de los elementos necesarios así como la redefinición de la plaza. Derribo Con la intención de maximizar la relación entre plaza y fachadas perimetrales, se procede al derribo de los elementos necesarios (extensión muro y cubierta hasta rampa pk), conservando aquellos imprescindibles para el funcionamiento del supermercado y aparcamiento situados las plantas subterráneas. Estos son: 1. Ventilación natural aparcamiento 2. Entrada/salida aparcamiento 3. Ventilación mecánica supermercado 4. Salida emergencia plantas sótano 5. Estación transformadora Propuesta Se unifican los elementos preexistentes, con geometrías regulares, con la voluntad de aumentar al máximo la superficie verde sobre aparcamiento, dotar de visibilidad a las fachadas perimetrales y al mercado y dar final a su volumen con una nueva pérgola coherente con la lógica del mismo. Los elementos se unifican en: 1. Banco-jardinera ventilación natural aparcamiento 2. Banco-jardinera Entrada/salida aparcamiento 3. Cilindros Ventilación mecánica supermercado 4. Escalera salida emergencia plantas sótano 5. Estación transformadora 6. Pergola entrada Mercado. Chapa perforada Actividades La nueva plaça del Mercat se propone como un foco de actividad que responda a las necesidades del Mercat (Dijous Bo, extensión del mercat con puestos al aire libre etc.) y también al conjunto de la ciudad. La plaza se convierte en un punto clave para la revitalización del Call de Inca y con la voluntad de favore- cer el acceso peatonal a todo el casco antiguo dotando de una nueva visibilidad a las fachadas perimetra- les y al propio mercado.
