The Convention project’s goal was to reveal the existing structure in a completely renovated apartment. This apartment is located in a 1969 building with reinforced concrete floors and walls, designed by architects Marc Villemant and Paul Verny.
The first step was to clear the area. While the construction systems were logically visible, the actual work carried out at the time was much less so. Thus, following the removal of all the finishing work, it was possible to choose the elements that would be left untouched: the ceiling and certain walls. Working with what was already there also reflects the need and desire for economy of resources, both physical and financial.
The project was completed by using certain interior joinery with durable, untreated materials, such as stainless steel and okoumé plywood.
Finally, the apartment retains the clarity and brightness offered by its large openings and three loggias.
