Refurbishment of an old settler’s house for a family in Willmine, Uckermark, north of Berlin.
Originally built around 1900 and repeatedly extended until the 1990s, the house had grown significantly in length (from nine to almost 25 meters) while its width remained at 7.50 meters. Despite offering a considerable 186 square meters of gross floor area, the renovation by Peter Grundmann Architektur prioritized the removal of superfluous ceilings and walls over the addition of new rooms, aiming to establish a sense of spaciousness within the existing volume.·
