The Vélodrome de Lausanne develops a productive topography on its site, seeking to preserve and amplify its inherent qualities.
Elevated above the ground – thus avoiding excavation – air, people and animal flows stay undisturbed. Water gathers in the topographic depression, shaping a marsh biotope that cools down the area. The school finds a new typology: classrooms revolve around a ring of open circulation, overlooking the island of nature.
The publicly accessible roof offers a range of activities, and a great view of the Alps.
