Winning competition entry to build a cultural center in Beijing that redefines the urban landscape of the Xicheng neighborhood.
On the ground floor, a large public exhibition space with transparent facades invites the community to enter. Above this, there is an elevated plaza covered in vegetation that descends to street level. The complex is topped with a curved yellow volume that contains three floors, serving as a venue for various events.
The entire ground floor is designed as transitional areas, blurring the lines between public and private spaces to encourage a natural flow of people and interaction, with social spaces like a café and a reading room. Mobile furniture and modular designs provide the necessary flexibility to accommodate diverse activities.·
