The abstraction and the search for the purely essential finds its maximum expression in this project. MIM is a store specializing in women’s footwear whose big goal is to show the product in a surprising way. This challenge, together with the uniqueness of the proposed space, turns this intervention into a set of decisions where experimentation plays a decisive role.
The need to create a recognizable path is once again in the foreground. Although the longitudinality of the space is perceived as an unfavorable aspect, the project is designed to emphasize and reinforce this fact. An unusual exhibition strategy is proposed through two strong and radical gestures. On the one hand, an imposing steel sheet acquires a curved geometry and fulfills a double function: it hides the private areas of the store and guides the user towards the back of the space. On the other hand, a longitudinal staircase runs along the entire exhibition area. While on a day-to- day basis they display products, they can eventually become an amphitheater from which customers can enjoy an improvised fashion parade. At the back of the space, the project ends with a fitting room area where the presence of geometry is evident. A semicircle made of steel encloses two rooms and frees a space that does not go unnoticed.
The sobriety of the described actions is supported by a singular use of materials. Steel takes on a considerable role in the conception of the space. The large curve dominates the scene and, thanks to its reflections, offers a distorted image that generates surprise in the user. In contrast to this, a continuous and homogeneous pavement is raised and staggered to form the grandstand. In this way, the whole piece is understood as a whole and, thanks to its neutral character, manages to highlight the product displayed on it.

La abstracción y la búsqueda de lo puramente indispensable encuentra su máxima expresión en este proyecto. MIM es una tienda especializada en calzado femenino cuyo gran desafío pasa por mostrar el producto de manera sorprendente. Este reto, unido a la singularidad del espacio en el que se interviene, convierte esta intervención en una suma de decisiones donde la experimentación juega un papel determinante. El concepto de recorrido vuelve a situarse en primer plano. Sin bien la longitudinalidad del espacio se percibe como un aspecto desfavorable, se hace de la necesidad virtud y se plantea un proyecto que enfatiza este hecho. A través de dos gestos de carácter firme y radical se propone una estrategia de exposición diferente. Por un lado, una imponente lámina de acero adquiere una geometría curva y cumple una doble función: esconde las tripas de la tienda y guía al usuario hacia el fondo del espacio. Por otro lado, un graderío longitudinal recorre todo el área de exposición. Sus tres peldaños proponen una hibridación de usos. Si bien en el día a día exhiben producto, pueden eventualmente convertirse en un anfiteatro desde el cual los clientes disfrutarán de una improvisado desfile. Al fondo del espacio, el proyecto culmina con una zona de probadores donde la presencia de la geometría se hace evidente. Una semicircunferencia realizada en acero acota dos salas y libera un espacio que no pasa desapercibido. La sobriedad de los gestos descritos se apoya en un uso singular de los materiales. El acero toma un protagonismo considerable en la concepción del espacio. La gran curva domina la escena y, gracias a sus reflejos, ofrece una imagen distorsionada que genera sorpresa en el usuario. En contraste con esto, se emplea un pavimento continuo y homogéneo que se levanta y escalona dando formación al graderío. De este modo, se propone una pieza que es entendida como un todo y cuyo carácter neutro consigue ensalzar el producto que se expone sobre ella.
