The project is located inside a gas station in the periphery of Morelia, it is next to one of the main roads of the city which connects the western housing area with the labor need of the inner city. This gas station has been a service center and a meeting a meeting point for many years to the people that transit this route on a daily basis.
The area has grown rapidly over the past years, due to the development of social housing in the outskirts of the city and the increase in production of the agricultural zones of the state. That’s why, a light architecture conformed by steel structures and prefabricated materials is used, mainly in commercial warehouses, small businesses and economical housing, has solved the necessities of the population in a quick and effective way. A utilitarian architecture with honesty and material austerity.
The constant flow of people and the quick growth of the area motivated the owners to develop a subtilized parcel of the gas station with five “commercial warehouses”. Popular typology in the zone, characterized by its economy and flexibility to hold multiple uses.
The proposal is simple. The terrain was divided in 5 warehouses of 8.5 meters width in the front following a structural reticule that allowed to have a light structure with free plan in each space. In its height, the warehouses grow a meter on a symmetric composition to provide hierarchy and scale to the project without affecting the neighbor construction.
The material proposal follows the surroundings. A façade of galvanized steel corrugated panels wraps the project and lets the volume to be seen from the nearest road. An economic, efficient and honest project that complements the needs of the area.

El proyecto IBAGA se ubica dentro de una gasolinera en la periferia de Morelia, la cual colinda con una de las vialidades más importantes de la ciudad encargada de conectar la zona habitacional del Poniente con la demanda laboral que existe dentro de la ciudad. Esta gasolinera ha servido de punto de abastecimiento y encuentro para los usuarios que recorren la ruta diariamente. El sitio a experimentado un rápido crecimiento en los últimos años debido a grandes desarrollos de vivienda social a las afueras de la ciudad y el incremento de producción de las zonas agrícolas del estado. Por ello, una arquitectura ligera a base de estructuras de acero y prefabricados usada principalmente en almacenes comerciales, negocios pequeños y vivienda económica, ha permitido resolver las necesidades de la población con eficacia y rapidez. Una arquitectura utilitaria con honestidad y austeridad material. El constante flujo de personas y una zona en rápido crecimiento motivaron a los propietarios a desarrollar una parcela subutilizada de la gasolinera donde se plantearon cinco ‘’almacenes comerciales’’. Tipología popular en la zona, caracterizada por su economía y flexibilidad para residir múltiples usos. La propuesta es simple. Se dividió el terreno en cinco locales de 8.5 metros de frente siguiendo una retícula estructural que permitiera tener una estructura ligera con plantas libres en cada espacio. En su altura, los locales van creciendo 1 metro en una composición simétrica para brindar mayor jerarquía y escala al proyecto sin afectar a la construcción colindante. La propuesta material sigue la lógica del entorno. Una fachada de lámina acanalada galvanizada envuelve el proyecto y permite identificar el volumen desde la avenida cercana. Un proyecto económico, eficiente y honesto que complementa las necesidades de la zona.
