The project arises with the intention of creating a welcome center for seasonal workers on the Los Mimbrales farm in Almonte, Huelva. The main objective was to design a new structure that could provide shade for the workers who arrive and depart every day from this transportation hub.
The first decision was to concentrate the forces on the minimum actions to achieve the maximum possible repercussions. The challenge was to create an intervention in the landscape with a minimal budget at the access point to the farm, where there were already some prefabricated booths but which did not sufficiently identify this place as a welcome point. The following criteria were proposed:
Color selection
The color red is the protagonist. This color not only allows this new center to be related to the landscapes that surround it but is also used as a tool to highlight the fine lines of the structure, as red works as a complementary color to the green environment.
Scale control
Since workers arrive daily by bus, the height of the structure was defined by the gauge of a bus.
Control of loads
The main function of the proposed structure is to generate a large horizontal plane of shadow. To achieve the minimum structure, it was also necessary to minimize its loads; for this reason, a white textile fabric cover was chosen.
As a result, a large shade plane that improves the climatic comfort and work conditions of seasonal workers and a unique intervention in the landscape are capable of relating, through color, the structure to its existing environment.

El proyecto surge con la intención de crear un centro de bienvenida para temporeros en la finca Los Mimbrales en Almonte, Huelva. El principal objetivo era proyectar una nueva estructura que pudiera proporcionar sombra a los trabajadores que llegan y salen todos los días desde este centro de transporte. La primera decisión fue concentrar las fuerzas en las mínimas acciones para conseguir la máxima repercusión posible. El desafío se encontraba en crear una intervención en el paisaje con un presupuesto mínimo en el punto de acceso a la finca donde ya existían unas casetas prefabricadas, pero que no identificaban suficientemente este lugar como punto de bienvenida. Se propusieron los siguientes criterios: Selección del color El color rojo como protagonista. Este color no sólo permite relacionar este nuevo centro con los paisajes que lo rodean, sino también se emplea como herramienta para destacar las finas líneas de estructura, al funcionar el rojo como color complementario del entorno verde. Control de la escala Dado que los trabajadores llegan diariamente en autobuses, la altura de la estructura quedó definida por el calibre de un autobús. Control de las cargas La función principal de la estructura propuesta consiste en generar un gran plano horizontal de sombra. Para conseguir la mínima estructura era necesario minimizar también sus cargas, por ello, se opta por una cubierta de tejido textil blanca. Como resultado, un gran plano de sombra que mejora las condiciones de confort climático y de trabajo de los temporeros y una intervención singular en el paisaje, capaz de relacionar, a través del color, la estructura con su entorno existente.
