The silk pavilion is the first project on reinforced fabrics, an investigation into the structural possibilities of textiles. If we understand the structure of the fabric as the reinforcement of a slab, stiffen it and fold it, we can obtain a self-supporting surface of extraordinary slenderness and lightness. If this element is shaped in a mould, we can create a modular prefabricated element that is both a structure and an enclosure with a simple and highly versatile assembly system.

L’estratègia d’implantació urbana és clara: alinear-se a la façana de carrer, tot construint el xamfrà, i ocupar el perímetre de la parcel·la per a embolcallar un atri longitudinal al centre que generi un gran espai intermedi pel gaudi de tots els veïns. Aquest espai de filtre, suavitza el salt tèrmic interior-exterior actuant com a col·lector solar durant l’hivern i com a xemeneia de ventilació durant l’estiu, garantint la climatització per sistemes passius i bioclimàtics. Així s’origina un ambient comunitari de confort, que ofereix espais de lleure i comunicació i tot i afavorint les relacions veïnals, la cura pel col·lectiu i el sentiment de pertinença.
