Sharing my eyes with you

Rivers and seas nurture the gifts of nature. Perhaps because I live in Chongqing, where two great rivers converge, water and shore have often been my themes of creation. Getting intimate with water seems to be a primal instinct from genes, and the sea is my ultimate imagination of water.

When the sunset fall into Haikou Bay, all the romance and beauty in the world melt into the Sky Mountain.
In the hazy sunlight, I share my eyes with you.

“Sky Mountain” is the second coastal station built in Haikou Bay, facing MAD’s “Cloud Cavern Library” across the sea.
It is like a white ring, not only integrating the city and the seaside but also connecting human and nature.
The undulating circular roof seems like a white wave curling up on the beach, or like rolling mountains. The hyperbolic paraboloid thin-shell concrete structure is concealed within the dynamic architectural curves, making it especially lightweight and romantic.
The white roof is as light and soft as clouds, and as unpredictable as waves, like the extension of the sky and the mountain, echoing the changes between the sea and the sky.

Sou Fujimoto intentionally directed the highest point of the building towards the western sea of Haikou Bay, making it an excellent spot for watching the sunset over the sea.
At dusk, the setting sun shines on the roof, and the entire building glows with golden light.

Although the project was not officially open to the public during our shoot, tourists who had heard about it arrived in endless waves.
Many city dwellers climbed the rooftop steps like contour lines, taking photos or enjoying the beautiful scenery of Haikou Bay.

The perfect combination of natural scenery and cultural beauty made the building fuller of life and vitality.
Experience and participation are the prerequisites for our shooting; curiosity and sensitivity are our states of mind. This creative process was extremely enjoyable, and I hope you, the reader, can feel the same with me.
