Limhamn cement silos transformation . Malmo

6a Architects . Nilsson Rahm . Johan Dehlin . + AJ

A collaborative team featuring 6a Architects, Nilsson Rahm and Johan Dehlin has won the contest to rethink a series of disused cement silos in Malmö.

The proposal transforms the remains of Limhamn’s historic cement industry into a constellation of three towers and an adjacent landscape square. Two residential timber high rises sit next to a vertical nature reserve, housed within a retained and perforated cement silo. Communal gardening, restaurants and an improved connection to the water support the local social life. Dismantled silo structures and materials are re-used in the surrounding landscape where local wild life, vegetation and citizens coexist.
