Maximilien Park, located in the northern district of Brussels, represents an urban void between the canal and the new business district. There are public transport connections in the northern and southern parts of the site. The proposal is a new high-quality park with a clear relationship to the surrounding city.
On one side, the park is limited by four existing residential blocks and a new public plinth. On the other side, a new building, developed lengthwise, reacts differently by providing public facilities on the ground floor, whilst at the same time creating a new frontage for the street it faces. The upper floors accommodate housing programmes for different occupants, with different typologies and levels of privacy. The flats are connected by a common outdoor circulation that becomes a meeting and exchange place for residents.
