Avancer Tower nominated project for MCHAP 2022.
The project breaks the corporate building stereotype: in addition to providing flexible spaces for the different uses the offices require, terraces that establish a direct correlation with the outside are distributed, maintaining a domestic condition between users and landscape. The volumetric strategy responds in a simple way to the natural and geometric conditions of the terrain, through a silhouette that affects the topography of the site as little as possible, optimizing time and resources in the execution of the project. On the other hand, the materiality of the building proposes to create an integration to the context in a discreet way, avoiding the use of curtain walls as a language and incorporating elements endemic to the place: the ruins, the rusty scaffolding from the mines, the bars and the stone materials of the historic center that recall the history of San Luis Potosí as a mining town in a contemporary key.
CONTEXT
Despite being positioned as a strategic point in the industrial cluster, San Luis Potosí lacked a suitable space to house large companies that contribute to local and national economic affair. The property, located on one of the highest points of the city and at the intersection of main avenues; represents for the client the right place to generate said space, triggering a new stage in the economic development of the city.
Due to the role the building has in the urban image, it was necessary for the project to become a landmark: architecture which is disruptive and proactive, that would return to the roots of the region and represent the beginning of a new stage of development. The importance of the building and its repercussions will constitute the legacy of the owner and his family with their city.
PERFORMANCE
The permeability of the building allows the spaces to adapt to different uses related to the exterior, which promote interaction between users and visitors to the area.
The characteristics of the site, and the construction process, gave the opportunity to carry out a reflection on how to honor the materials, the work and effort implicit in the construction to understand the design criteria from a new perspective; As a consequence, these spaces have the capacity to accommodate new activities and expand the possibilities of use: the lobby is transformed into a public square, the terraces have a domestic experience and the basement transcends the use of a parking garage, functioning as a venue for events, exhibitions, social gatherings and even concerts.
