Pasodoble offers a home to people with mental disabilities and to students, as well as collective and social housing. Commercial spaces and a center for physical training and rehabilitation are located on the ground floor. A continuous arched portico binds them together and forms the structural base of the building.
Two distinct volumes accommodate this diverse programme. They share an enfilade of slightly shifted patios. Together they reconcile the two different alignments on site and frame a majestic cedar tree. The space and the tension between the two bodies is reminiscent of the popular dance pasodoble, and creates the architectural theme and stimulates collective delight.
The communal residence of the SGIPA, as well as the student apartments, are organized as linear cluster types, the other apartments as cross types. All the living spaces gather around the courtyard, while the individual rooms look outwards.
The binary rhythm of the pasodoble is also expressed by the use of the green and white ceramic tiles, handcrafted in Vietri sul Mare in Italy. They reflect each other’s qualities while providing orientation and beauty, much in contrast to the melancholy of traditional social and clinical housing.

El edificio Pasodoble alberga, además de viviendas colectivas y sociales, un hogar para personas en situación de discapacidad intelectual y para estudiantes. En la planta baja se encuentran espacios comerciales y un centro de entrenamiento físico y de rehabilitación. Un pórtico arqueado los une y forma la base estructural del edificio. Dos volúmenes distintos dan cabida a este programa mixto y comparten una serie de patios ligeramente desplazados. Juntos concilian las dos alineaciones diferentes del lugar y ponen en escena un cedro majestuoso. El espacio y la tensión entre los dos volúmenes crean, de forma similar al baile del pasodoble, la figura arquitectónica, estimulando el deleite colectivo. La residencia comunitaria del SGIPA, así como los apartamentos de estudiantes, siguen un esquema lineal, mientras que el resto de viviendas se organiza con una configuración en cruz. Todos los espacios habitables se reúnen en torno al patio y las habitaciones individuales están orientadas hacia el exterior. El ritmo binario del pasodoble se expresa también en el uso de las baldosas de cerámica verde y blanca, fabricadas a mano en Vietri sul Mare, en Italia. Las unas reflejan las cualidades de las otras, proporcionando orientación y belleza, en contraste con la melancolía que habitualmente desprenden las viviendas sociales y las residencias.
